Who We Are

Omega Exports was organized in 1992. The motivation behind Omega Exports came from my grandfather, David Quartey. During the 1890s, in Gold Coast, which is now present day Ghana, there was a shipwreck on the coast and David took title of all the provisions on the ship. He took title of the cargo on credit and reimbursed the ship owners a year later.

That following year, David Quartey, organized his own exporting business refining and shipping palm oil. He would import the barrels from Europe and put the refined oil in the barrels for export. There were no automobiles at that time.

David had almost 500 men working for him, pushing the 100-gallon barrels from the refinery to the coast. They also had to paddle the barrels in canoes onto the ship about four miles off shore. David became quite wealthy and provided an education for his son at Cambridge University, who would graduate and become a lawyer. He was one of the very first lawyers circa 1920's in all of West Africa.

When Ramsey Quartey organized Omega Exports in 1992, he had access to trade leads through the USDA website. With pagers and fax machines, Ramsey was able to export grapefruit from Florida to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia by cargo ship. Furthermore, Ramsey was able to ship fresh green beans by air to Amsterdam, Netherlands. Ramsey Quartey also sells domestically to the USDA Domestic Feeding programs, and also sells to military bases and prisons. Omega Exports is also qualified to sell under the USDA GSM 103 program.

Today, Ramsey Quartey and his reputable business, Omega Exports, is looking for importers eligible for the USDA GSM 103  program as well as the EXIM Bank Credit Services. EXIM Bank Credit Services offers short-term financing enables U.S. exporters and lenders to extend credit terms to international buyers with minimal risk. This is often more cost effective than bank financing or letters of credit.
